Born on Dec. 10, 1926, in Wayne County, he was the son of the late Robert and Gracie (Callahan) Brockman. age 79, of WednesReid Hospi- "Charles Brockman "Charles Brockman Charles had worked at Avco Corporation in Richmond for 30 years and retired in 1980 from American Aggregates in Richmond. He attended Friendship Community Church in New Paris and was a member of the Sons of the American Legion of New Paris, Moose Lodge and Eagles Lodge both of Richmond, Ind.

Preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Edith B. Brockman, in 2002; son-in-law, Clinnie R. Bach in 2004; brothers, Eddie Brockman, William Carlos Brockman, Otis Brockman and George Lenard Brockman; sister, Julia Brockman. Survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Charles David and Susan Brockman of Williamsburg, James Edward and Debbie Brockman of New Paris, Ohio; daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Bill Curee of Dry Ridge, Catherine Ann and Jesse Lear of Richmond, and Joyce Irene Bach of North Augusta, S.C.; brothers, Fred Brockman of Manchester, Erskin Brockman and Fletcher Brockman, both of Richmond, sisters, Vernie Marie Campbell and Lucille King, both of Richmond, and Wanda Reed of Grandview Mountain, grandchildren, Robert Daniel Brockman, Darla Sue Paul, Terry Lee Lear, Cynthia a Lynn Knox, Lisa Koren Brockman, Dana Renee Boatwright, Angela Christine Hilton, Jessica Ann Whited, Tyler Brockman, James Brockman David Michael Lear, Joshua Brown, Michael Brown, Frank Esposito, Clinnie Ray Bach Sharon Preston and Karen Preston; 30 grandchildren; several special nieces and nephews. He was born Feb. 13, 1933, in Jackson County, to Clarence and Hazel Cor- Cunagin nelius Cunagin and lived here all his life. He retired from Wayne Corp. and was a member of Kings Highway Holiness Church. Bernard was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ina; his son, Duane Cunagin of Fort Lauderdale, and his granddaughter, Courtney Cunagin of Columbus, Ohio; five brothers, James, Harold, Roger and Don Cunagin of Jackson County, and Doug Cunagin of East Bernstadt, Ky; three sisters, Rostie Robinson and Janie Allen of Jackson County, and Rosemary McQueen of East Bernstadt, Ky; nieces and nephews. His parents; one brother, Larry Cunagin; and two sisters, Thelma McQueen and Beatrice Pearce, are deceased. Her birthplace and father's last name were wrong in her obituary on Page A5 Tuesday. OBITUARY RICHARD L. WHITTAKER Richard L. Whittaker of Newport, N.C., age 80, formerly from Centerville, IN, passed away March 1, 2006. He was born March 7, 1925 in Richmond to Merritt and Gertrude Whittaker.

He quit school his senior year and served in the Navy and Marines for 30 retiring as a Chief Petty Officer. While in service, he earned his GED. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart and numerous other medals. He was a 25 year member of Jones-Austin Post No. 2401 VFW in Beaufort, N.C.

Survivors include Elizabeth, (Betty) wife of 62 years, children Richard, Newport, N.C., Bruce, Jacksonville, N.C., Michael of Enterprise, Robin of Newport, N.C., Mark of Newport, N.C., Ronald, Newport, N.C. His brother, Paul of Richmond, (formerly of Centerville), grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Merritt and Gertrude, two sons, Gary and Timothy, and one grandchild, Jennifer (Daughter of Timothy and Pat). Arrangements were held at Mender Funeral Home and Crematory of Morehead City, N.C., where family received friends on March 4, 2006. A Memorial Service was held on Sunday, March 5, 2006 at Jones-Austin VFW Post 2401 where son Michael and grandson John were in full Military dress for the Military Salute Ceremony.
