Trippie Redd slammed over delayed Drake feature ‘Betrayal’, fans call it 'hot garbage’ (2024)

Trippie Redd dropped his fourth studio album ‘Trip at Knight’ on August 20, 2021, and yet got slammed on social media for not including Drake’s feature on the song called ‘Betrayal’. Now, after getting brutally dismissed by the Internet on Friday, looks like Redd learned his lesson as the much-awaited Drake feature finally hit the streaming platforms on Saturday, August 21.

Trippie shared multiple tweets in order to hype the song, however, the moment the track was released, the 22-year-old hip-hop artist again got crucified by the social media users for getting a “lazy” verse from Drake. Redd’s latest project is a follow-up to his third album called ‘Pegasus’ that featured guest verses from some of the top global artistes like Chris Brown, Rich the Kid, Young Thug, Future, Quavo, Busta Rhymes, Lil Wayne, and Swae Lee among a few others.

Trippie Redd tries to hype ‘Betrayal’ featuring Drake

After catching heat from the Internet, the ‘Excitement’ hitmaker tried his best to promote the track as much as possible within the limited time frame. Redd first shared a snippet of the track on Twitter and posted, “TRIPPIE & @Drake - Betrayal White heart GO on my ig and comment and I’ll add it to TRIP AT KNIGHT ! hurry before I change my mind.” A few hours later, he finally dropped the track with the tweet, “Betrayal with @drake out now!” followed by a white heart with a Batman sign emoticon. He again took to Twitter and concluded, “Added Betrayal to Trip at Knight for u.”

The song ‘Betrayal’ is listed at number three on the album. Trippie was originally supposed to feature on Drake’s 2018 banger ‘God’s Plan’. However, Redd could not fulfil the commitment due to unforeseen circ*mstances. Talking about the lyrics, on the chorus, Redd goes, “Paper planes (Paper planes), novocaine (Novacaine)/ Mary jane (Yeah)/ Say one thing to me, you Texa's toast, no Raising Cane's/ I can't lie, life's good, man, I can't complain (Yeah)/ Walkin' through the hood undoubtly without a stain/ Hopped off the porch, I'm a prodigy, they know the name.” Whereas, Drake with one of his most mediocre verses, raps, “I swear I been betrayed ('Trayed)/ One too many times (Times)/ Too many to count (Count), yeah/ All them nights I prayed/ Solid how I stayed (Stayed)/ No matter how they played it, I still don't mind (Woah, yeah)/ There's too many to count (Ayy, ayy, PinkGrillz).” You can stream the track here. ‘That song was disappointing’

Social media users, who waited eagerly for the Drake feature, did not hesitate at all to drag Trippie Redd once again. One hip-hop fan posted, “That song was disappointing just like the entire album, imma go listen to real music.” Another shared, “Drake delivered the laziest verse of his career AND he sent it a day late lmaooo.” Whereas, one added, “Maybe I’m tripping but this s**t is hot garbage for a drake feature.”

The next one tweeted, “Trippie is hot garbage yet y’all waiting on a fire drake verse Lmaoooo tell Trippie to put out something fire first.” One posted, “Drake this had to be the most mid verse ever.” Meanwhile, one individual schooled Redd by saying, “Late release by a day, for some reason? If you’re familiar with Drake’s music the lyrics are boring and unsatisfying. Drake’s energy doesn’t match either. Beat sounds like a David Guetta track from a decade ago… Track is mid at best.” And, one hip-hop fan trolled Redd while concluding, “Why in the world would drake jump on a trippie Redd song lol.”
