Wednesday By Pam Tharp Correspondent CENTERVILLE, Ind. Hundreds of acres of farmland north of here might become part of the town under a proposed annexation action. The annexation is needed because the area north to the interstate is where Centerville's future is, Centerville Town Council president Dan Wandersee said. The Centerville exit on Interstate 70 is the last, mostly undeveloped interchange in Wayne County, Wandersee said. Centerville is also the only town in Wayne County that Dan gained population in the 2010 cen- Wandersee sus, he said.

The Centerville Town Council will hold a public hearing on the annexation at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the town hall. The council will consider approving the annexation at its meeting at 7 p.m. June 14.
The land to be annexed is on both sides of Centerville Road North, Wandersee said. The annexation includes a parcelwide corridor from Gates Road to just beyond 1-70, including the interchange, a little more than a half-mile in length. On the west side the action will include parcels at Gaar Jackson Road to the river and back north to I-70, Centerville building commissioner Gene Kates said.
